Winter Canola Harvest in the Savannah River Valley, Western South Carolina

Winter Canola harvest May 29th in Allendale, SC, with a John Deere S670, regular auger header Hydra Flex 630F. This dryland, sandy loam field was seeded in mid-October with a JD box drill and achieved 2250 lbs per acre yields, with oil contents over 40%. Heavy infestation of Italian ryegrass in this non-GM winter canola was cost-effectively and efficiently controlled in January.
